A Little Update

Well I have a day off entirely to myself today, first in a very long time. So I thought I would finally post an update.
I can't believe January is almost over! I just don't know where the time goes. Although, I will be EXTREMELY happy when winter is over. What a brutal one it has been!

Last week, Kai and I finally made a much overdue trip down to Weyburn to visit Grandpa T and Grandma Hille. Weyburn is only a little over an hour away, but there always seems to be something going on, or the weather sucks, so we never seem to get down there. The trip down, wasn't so bad, but the crappy highway from Qu'Appelle was pretty snowy and icy. First, we went to Grandpa T's and had a lunch and a great visit with him. He hadn't seen us in a very long time and couldn't believe how much Kai had grown (and how much weight I had lost YAY!). He hyped Kai up on candy and cookies (just like he used to with me LOL) and Kai turned his house into a tornado zone. Afterwards, we went over to Grandma Hille's and Kai trashed her place and we watched the one year DVD that I gave her for Christmas. Then we went to McDonald's for coffee. This was the BEST idea ever! The play area is in a closed off room and we were the only ones in it. So we were able to actually have coffee without Kai getting restless and irritated. The highways were really crappy on the way home, couldn't see a thing, but we made it! I am really glad that we made it down there, even if it was a whirlwind trip, hopefully we can do it again sooner, rather than later!

Kai's daycare workers informed me last week that come February 1st he will be moving up to the next group. They say his speech and abilities have greatly advanced and they think he needs a more "challenging" environment. This was great to hear! In his new group they don't use sippy cups and start working on potty training, so here is hoping!

I first started Weight Watchers LAST January, I have lost a total of 42lbs. I did it from January to April and then when I started working again I basically abandoned it until I restarted in October. I am extremely happy with my progress. I hope to lose about another 10lbs, but am not "set" on it, so I have eased back a bit on WW and will take it as it comes. Now I really need to start working on toning. I hope to get back into Crossfit or something of the like very soon. As with everything, time will be the factor.
Work has been EXTREMELY crazy busy, as it will be for a long time now, probably until next September when the slow season hits again. This is great, money is good, days go fast, but energy is taken LOL.

I still haven't listed my house, but hope to in the next week or so. I still have a little bit of painting etc. that I would like to get done first, so hopefully that will happen this weekend.

Tonight I am going out with some girls from work for one of their birthdays, so it should be a good time and it will be nice to "get out" for a bit.

Well that's about it for now. Hope everyone is fairing well in this "deep freeze" that we call home! :)

Here are some new pictures!

December December December!

What a month it was! The weather, crazy busy at work, holiday preperation etc etc. I have NO IDEA where the month went, but I can't say I am overy sad to see it go LOL.

Kai started off the month with another birthday party. It was for another one of my co-workers little boys, Mateo. It was a Dino Bouncer Party at The Glencarin Rec Centre. It took Kai a little while to actually go inside the bouncers, but once he did there was no stopping him. Boy was he "pooped" after we left there. We had a great time! The weather when we came out on the other hand was not so great. This was the first of many December icy, snowy, freezing storms that I got to drive though!

The rest of the month up until the holidays was fairly uneventful, just more crappy crappy weather and craziness at work.

The next "highlight" of the months was the evening of the 23rd, another "tropical" day. I left work and was on my way to pick up Kai. I made a quick stop at Tim Horton's to pick up some coffee for the holidays and then made my way to David's friends house. I get there, turn the car off, go inside get Kai and his stuff and load him into the car, turn on the car...it won't start! AWESOME! Just what I need at 9:00 at night, 2 days before Christmas. I try to start it a few more times, nothing. So I figure it might be the battery, so I will try boosting it. The only problem is that I am parked in their single driveway with a fence on one side and the house on the other. I go to put the car in neutral and it won't move. Finally after numerous phone calls, I go out and reef on the gear shift and finally I get it into neutral. So we get the car moved back and get it boosted, it starts no problem. The only problem is that now the check engine light is on. I decide that I have my cellphone and will be on the #1 highway the entire way, so I drive home, uneventfully. The next morning my car starts fine, but the light is still on, so I take my mom's car to work. When I get home I try starting it again and again it starts fine and light is now off. Everything has been fine since, so I really have no idea what happened, but I am just glad that it didn't end up being something serious......YET! LOL

Christmas Eve I worked during the day and we went over to my mom's for the evening. We did are gift exchanges then because Kai would be at his dad's for Christmas Day. Kai got SPOILED ROTTEN, just as I excpected he would. Lets see if I can remember everything; Radio Flyer spring horse, drum set, guitar, train sets (more on these later), hockey set, movies, clothes, wool sweater, books, money, name train, other various toys and there has to be more I am sure. These were only the presents from my side of the family who knows what all he has at his dads. The one thing I know he got was a Power Wheels truck.

Kai got picked up at about 8:30 and we spent the rest of the evening just hanging out yapping and eating etc. I ended up falling asleep in a recliner chair and remained there until about 10:00 the next morning.

Christmas day was a pretty lazy one for me. I went for a dip in the hot tub in the morning and them came home and did pretty much nothing for a good few hours. Later in the afternoon my dad and his girlfriend came out and my sister and I had a good visit with them. Then later in the evening we went back over to my moms. We spent the evening playing games, and taking stupid embarrassing pictures of each other. Our Christmas dinner consisted of pasta and salad at about 9:30 at night.

My sister started working at Applebees and on Boxing Day they had a Family and Friends training session. She was allowed to bring in three people for free food and drinks so that the staff could practice before the actual opening. So that was a pretty sweet deal! I then battled crowds and did a bit of shopping. It wasn't as crazy out as I actually thought it would be, but it was later in the day so that might have had something to do with it. I picked Kai up in the evening and we stopped at Tim Horton's for a quick coffee and made our way home.

The weekend was pretty uneventful. I made another quick trip into the city to pick up a new digital camera. I am thrilled with it! I have had the same camera for about 3 years and it has done the job, but it is really basic and doesn't have many features. The thing that impresses me most about this new one is that it has video with sound. I have an actual video camera, but very rarely use it because I never have it around when I actually want it. The quality of video on the new camera isn't the greatest, but it will do the trick. Now hopefully I can figure out how upload them on here!

I am glad I didn't have any big plans for New Year's Eve because it was GROSS out. I wasn't sure I would even be able to make it home and I probably shouldn't have even tried. The highway was treterous, but needless to say we made it. Kai and I spent the evening at my mom's playing with all of his new toys and watching movies. We actually missed 12:00, I went the kitchen and looked at the clock at 12:08. I yet again spent the night in my mom's recliner, I swear those chairs have something in them that just knocks you out, as she has the same problem with them.

I came home yesterday morning to find 4 ft of snow in my driveway! I had to park on the street and plow my way to the door. It took me an hour and half to get it shovelled out (I am not liking what I see out the window right now, MORE SNOW! I have no idea where I am going to put it. It is already piled super high on both sides of the driveway now). We spent the rest of the day just hanging out and playing more and more toys.

Ok so back to the train table. Kai's grandpa bought him a massive train table for Christmas. Awesome right? Yeah, minus the assembly. It said on the box that it would take 2-4 hours to assemble. The problem with that is when do I have 2-4 hours to assemble it? I opened the box a few days ago, but closed it right back up when I saw what was inside. Definitely not a project to tackle with a toddler around. So finally last night, my mom said she was going to come over and tackle it. Everything was going fine until she realized that some of the pieces didn't have the holes drilled in them. So she proceeded to drill them in and then went to put the screws in. The only problem was that because the holes were supposed to be bigger on one end so that the screws could be recessed. How are you supposed to do that with a regular home drill? Didn't seem like a huge deal, but now the screws were to short. So I went and got my screws, but they were cheap and just got destroyed by the drill. My mom went home and got some longer screws...too long though. So in the end she used my cheap screws, but just screwed them in manually. Surprising that was the only really hang up with the entire project (besides one piece put on upside down). So by 12:30 the table was DONE! Luckily I came to my senses and resisted the temptation to wake Kai up to see it. I did spend the next hour re-arranging my house to make room for this thing though.

This morning I realized that the labour involved with the table was worth it. Kai spent a good 3 hours straight playing at it. Anything that can keep this kids attention for more than 5 seconds is worth ANYTHING to me LOL!

Shortly I will be taking Kai back to his dad's house (weather permitting) and I am back to work tomorrow. We are having our staff Christmas party tomorrow night, so that should be a good time. After that I guess the holidays are officially over for another year. Hopefully everyone had a safe and happy holiday season and has a great 2009!

Please excuse the numerous grammatical and spelling mistakes that I am sure there are in this post. I had limited time and lots to say! I will come back later tonight to fix them and upload the pictures!

Sorry Again!

Unfortunately the update will have to wait until tomorrow evening. I will explain why then!

Happy New Year!

Ok so I obviously took the month of December off. What a crazy crazy month! I am going to write a very long post (I have a lot of catching up to do) this evening after Kai goes to bed.

Weekly Update!

I have decided that I will make it my goal to update my blog at least once a week (hopefully more). I think this is reasonable. I just have trouble finding the time to update it as much as I would like to.

I had Kai for the past 12 days, as his dad was on a vacation. I thought that I would be going crazy by the end of it, but it was actually awesome. I was just getting into the groove of having him all the time and now he is gone for the next 2 days :(. I guess I can take this time to maybe catch up on some cleaning etc that is impossible to do when Kai is around. I swear I could follow behind him all day picking up after him. He definitely has a way of completely trashing the house.

Kai got his 18 month immunizations on Thursday and he did really well. Poor guy had to get FOUR needles!!! Of course he cried when he was getting them, but was fine about 5 minutes later. He didn't have any reaction to them all, I didn't even have to give him Tylenol. Although, the nurse said that with one of them if they are going to react it won't be until 7-10 days later, so hopefully he doesn't.

On Saturday night, one of the girls that I work with had a small party. We had a potluck supper and drinks and played board game until 3:30 in the morning. It was awesome to get out, but boy was I tired the next day. I picked Kai up at gramma's at around 10:30 and we played for a bit, then he had luch a we both took a 2 hour nap. I felt much better after.

Kai has turned into quite the little fish. I think he spent over half the weekend in gramma's hotub. He has become a little to accustomed to the warm water though. His daycare group went swimming on Friday and as soon as he hit the water he istantly started shivering (it wasn't even cold), SPOILED.

I am now at a total of 15lbs lost!!

Well that is about all I can think of right now, I will edit this post if I remember something that I missed.

Nyah's Birthday Party and Other Stuff

Kai was invited to his first birthday party this weekend. It was the daughter of a girl that I work with. They went to Amazing Adventures and had a blast! It was hard work trying to keep up with him though.

We also put up the Christmas decorations this weekend and Kai is obsessed with the "itty" (pretty) tree and the "yights" (lights). He has done a lot better than I though he would do with it. He is drawn to it, almost like he can't help himself, but as soon as tell him not to touch he stops.

I have decided to try and sell my house. I am kind of sad to do it, but it is just getting to hard to be out here on my own. Small towns are not the best places for single parents. There is really nothing out here for me (other than my mom and no mom that doesn't mean you are nothing). Everything I want to do or can do whether it be going out with the girls from work or putting Kai in activites etc. are in the city. It would also work better for the "shared parenting" that Kai's dad and I have to do. The commute and the idiot drivers on the highway are really starting to get to me too. Not to mention the expense! I haven't "listed" it yet, I have just put an ad on Used Regina, so will see how that goes.

I think Kai's vocabulary has increased by a million in the past week. I can't believe all of the new words and phrases he has started saying. He also imitates EVERYTHING! I guess it is time to start watching what we say around him. He has also taken to repeating the same word over and over and louder and louder, it is really quite annoying but funny at the same time.

Kai has also developed and obsession with nailpolish and grandma has been feeding it. Everytime we are over there Kai goes into the nailpolish basket and the next thing I know he has blue and orange fingernails and purple and pink toes. Yesterday when Kai was eating breakfast I saw the nailpolish on his fingers and was glad I noticed it before we left the house. So I took it off his fingers and we left for the birthday party. Once we got there they informed us that the kids had to go barefoot in the gym area, so I take his socks off and to my horror his one foot is painted pink and the other is purple!!!!! Needless to say I had some explaining to do!

I am still doing really good with my Weight Watchers. I have lost 12lbs so far. Numerous people have been telling me that they can notice now, so that feels pretty good. I really hope I don't hit a plateau, as I know it can happen after you've had a few weeks of losing quite a bit. I really need to pick up on the exercising though, as I haven't been to focused on that aspect of it. Although, I do run up and down four flights of stairs about 20 times a day a work, so that has to count for something right?

Here are some pictures of the party.

I Think My Baby Grew Up Overnight!

Not sure why, but for some reason I can't move my pictures so that is why they are at the top and in no particular order!

Kai decided to go into purse and dig out an apple that I never ate at lunch yesterday.

Wow! Have we ever had an eventful couple of days. First off I transitioned Kai's crib into a toddler bed yesterday. I was a little worried about how last night would go. He was asleep in the car by the time we got home, so was able to get him into bed still asleep. All was good for about 30min and then I heard a loud THUNK. Uh oh! I went into his room and sure enough there he was laying on the floor (still asleep). So I put him back in bed and 5 min later in happened again! This time I went in and he was standing there all dozy. So one more time I put him back in bed and what do you think happened 5 min later? Yep, he was on the floor again LOL. At this point I decided just to bring him into bed with me. I didn't want to be up every 5 min throughout the night, plus it would have to start hurting after a while! So today I went and bought one of those gaurd rails and so far so good!

Next accomplishment (this one is huge): KAI WENT DOWN FOR HIS NAP AND BEDTIME WITHOUT A BOTTE! Yes my little bottle fanatic might finally be over his addiction. He did have a soother and a sippy cup mind you, but will work on that in awhile!

Thirdly, I think this might be even bigger than the bottle thing. After last weeks fiasco with the potty I have not even tried since. So this morning this morning I was getting ready to put him in the tub and I thought what the heck I will try sitting him on it again. Not only did he not no scream, HE PEED! Yes that is right, he peed on the potty! I am sure it was just a fluke, but a great one in my books. That was one less pee in a diaper that I had to change. I think I will just continue to put him on a couple of times a day and see where it takes us. I am actually able to visualize a life without dirty diapers now and how glorious it is!
Well I think that is more than enough for now!
